Hey Jamie Sunico :) When i was in 2nd year of my mechanical engineering education, i did an interesting project which was very much appreciated by everyone. My models are still displayed in design labs of my university. Here is the idea of the project which i did:

I worked on improving designs of heavy load trucks (the one which are still used in India and Pakistan). Me and my team designed and manufactured small scale prototypes of these trucks with improvements in their design. Because these trucks are designed by local mechanics, so they are not perfectly designed according to engineering principles. I am talking about truck body design.

So these type of project ideas which have real life application and even a layman can understand such projects, will give you a lot more appreciation in your university's annual competition.

Thank you for the Idea Ayesha Iqbaal..  :)..   I need only some clarification. :) Your suggestion means that we will try to make designs for heavy load trucks that will improve its functions?or just an inmprovement of  their designs?

Can I ask information and details about the procedures, if you don't mind about water heater generated by solar power and Vertical axis wind mill which generates electricty.  :))..  I thinks these things will be a challenging one. THANKS AGAIN :)))

Yeah both these ideas of water heater using solar power and vertical axis wind mill to generate electricity are awesome. Then there is another one if you are interested. You can also generate electricity using instant steam produced by using direct sun light. This is called "concentrated solar power". Just look for it on Google and you will find a lot of information. Let me know if you need any further help :)

Don't forget to share with me your thoughts on "concentrated solar power" project idea. It's my personal favorite. Generates instant steam within no time. Everyone will be amazed after seeing such instant steam generation. You are in your 2nd year, so if you only generated instant steam then this will be enough as a mini project. Then you can extend it to your final year project to generate electricity out of it :)
